CapitalistSUPERSTAR colt Capitalist is the $1.50 favourite at Crownbet.com.au to be the first winner in 25 years to claim the Group 3 at Rosehill on Saturday.

The three-year-old Peter and Paul Snowdown trained runner races for the first time since winning the Group 1 Golden Slipper back in March.

Capitalist is attempting to become only the third to complete the Golden Slipper-San Domenico double and the first since Tierce in 1991.

Peter and Paul Snowden had to delay Capitalist's first run since winning the world's richest two-year-old race, scratching the colt from the Group Two Missile Stakes at Randwick last Saturday because of the wet conditions.

Stablemate is listed at $5.50 at sportsbet.com.au to win the San Domenico, but he is likely to skip the race in favour of meeting other three-year-olds in the at .

Next best backed to beat the favourite is Star Turn.

The team Hawkes-trained son of Star Witness has been sensational in the lead up, winning both trails at Rosehill and respectively.

Star Turn is a $4.60 elect at Sportsbet.

While there has been plenty of optimism around the return of Capitalist, unbeaten youngster Tango Rain has drawn the attention of punters.

The Gerald Ryan-trained colt Tango Rain has shown great promise in his fledgling career, and Sportsbet representative Ben Bulmer said the punters have rallied around the $6.50 hope.

“Tango Rain has one thing that Capitalist does not and that is wet track form. Capitalist was scratched last week because of the heavy going and punters may sense a chink in the Golden Slipper winner's armour,'' said sportsbet.com.au's Ben Bulmer.

Terravista set to miss the spring

Former Group 1 winner Terravista will return to the track this spring at the Joe Pride stable, but the speedster will not race competitively.

Rather than take a shot at the spring, Pride will instead give Terravista two barrier trails then send the champ out for another spell.

It is expected the seven-year-old will return in the autumn.

The trainer has a conundrum on his hands.

Terravista has experienced foot problems over the course of his career, but the Price is also wary of the dangers letting his horse getting to accustomed to the paddock.

“He is due back in the stable at the end of August,” Pride said.

“There will be no spring racing for him.

“I will give him a barrier trial or two but I really want to get his feet right.

“That way we can maximise his chances of one or two more of racing.

“The idea is to give him four months off and then get him ready for the Lightning Stakes again.”

The trainer considers the Lightening Stakes the race that got away given his elect looked a certainty to claim the second Group 1 of his career, but after jockey Damian Oliver lost his whip in the final metres Terravista was swamped and ultimately nosed out by Chautauqua.

It would have been the second Group 1 victory the horse has had over the 2016 Sprinter of the Year Chautauqua after recording a victory over -sprinter in the 2014 Classic.
