Sunlight has surged to victory in the Group One Newmarket Handicap (1200m) down the straight at Flemington.

The three-year-old trained by Tony McEvoy at Flemington produced a perfect run with South African jockey Barend Vorster to claim the $1.25m feature. Favourite Osborne Bulls was second and Brave Smash filled the minor placing.

“She's an incredible filly, she keeps stepping up to the plate,” McEvoy said.
